TASK
Develop an audiovisual system for the controlled entry of people to increase home security.
MARKET RESEARCH
The project begins with a market analysis that details the current market size and examines the major players in the industry. The products of the different brands were compared and categorized. A target group identification was carried out and customer needs were recorded. Finally, legal and regulatory requirements were examined and sales forecasts were made.


ACTION ANALYSIS
After the market analysis, an action analysis had to be conducted with several different models of a video doorbell from the current bestsellers. I closely observed how the user interacted with the video doorbell, how easy it was to install, and what problems arose during use.
CONCEPT PHASE
The collected findings from the market and behavioral analysis were then translated into potentials. These potentials were sorted according to their importance and then a selection was made that specifically refers to the use of a video bell in everyday family life. Possible concepts were then developed for these potentials.

FIRST SKETCHES
At the beginning, different proportions, orientations and functionalities of the video bell were tried out and roughly visualized. The first step is to create a wide range of variations.


SKETCH REFINEMENT
After that, selected sketches are refined and variations of them are created again. Finally, after a long process with many different design solutions, I arrived at my final design.
ELABORATION OF DETAILS
After all, every function has to be worked out down to the last detail. In addition to a successful design language, attention is paid to the ergonomic design of all touch points. Only when this sketching process is complete is it time to move on to 3D design and CAD construction.

The smart video bell SID which stands for "Sicherheit, Intelligenz, Daheim" (security, intelligence, home) offers easy operation even in the dark and raises the user experience to a new level.

TECHNOLOGY

HAPTIC FEEDBACK
In order to maintain the user experience of a traditional bell button despite the minimalist design, the screen can be pressed into the housing thanks to a hinge, providing haptic feedback of the ringing.


EASE OF INSTALLATION
The Video Bell needs to be installed by anyone without too much effort, which is why I chose surface mounting. Once the wall bracket is mounted, the video bell housing can be placed on top and snaps into place.
BUILD-IN TECHNOLOGY
In addition to the haptic feedback provided by the swivel hinge, the bell also provides feedback through indirect lighting and has loudspeakers that, in combination with the shell's shape, ensure excellent intelligibility during communication. Built-in sensors and a camera detect early movement and transmit video to the homeowner.

UI/UX
In addition to the design of the bell, the design of the user interface is also important.
In addition to the design of the screen of the video bell, the application for the terminal device and a small view of the website for the sale of the bell were also designed.
